Larry Lathrop.
Larry Lathrop proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1985 to 1993. Larry worked as a Military Policeman and Criminal Investigator, deployed during the Gulf War, and earned numerous awards to include the National Defense Medal, the Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia w/3 stars), the Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), the Good Conduct Medal w/2 stars, and a Secretary of the Navy Letter of Commendation. Subsequent to his honorable discharge, he graduated from The University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1996.
Degree in hand, Larry began working as an illustrator and graphic designer at HH Cutler in Grand Rapids, MI. Working exclusively on the Nike account, he created designs for Nike juvenile apparel. Collaborating with such a dynamic, successful company, he quickly recognized the importance of providing a high quality product, both intellectually and physically. In 1999, HH Cutler closed their Grand Rapids facility and Larry began to freelance.
From 1999 to 2006 his impressive list of clients included Volkswagen, Tidy Cat, and the College Football Hall of Fame, as well as many private individuals. In 2006, Larry decided to take his passion for art and commitment to public service into the classroom as a high school Art Teacher. He simultaneously remained active as a freelance artist, continuing to complete custom airbrush work, portraits and large-scale murals.
In 2023, Larry launched Bold Brush, introducing his art to the people of Florida. Moving forward, Bold Brush will include a mobile service, taking airbrush equipment directly to Bike Night’s and Car Shows, as well as individual customers. The ability to transport motorcycles for custom work will also be in place. Bold Brush represents a newfound enthusiasm and focused direction for long term success, designed to share his creative talent and facilitate Larry’s eventual transition out of the classroom
